After a little lull in the world of sports over the last month and-a-half, it's time for the sports world to get going again.
The beginning of April means a bunch of things for the sports fan.
The NCAA Basketball Final Four kicks off the month.
The start of the Major League Baseball season signifies that summer is almost here.
Golf's grandest stage, the Masters (extra special this year!!!), gets going in about a week.
The NHL and NBA playoffs are just around the corner.
I have always debated which time of year is better in sports? The beginning of April or the beginning of October.
October features the MLB playoffs, the beginnings of the NHL and NBA seasons, NFL Football is nicely underway, NCAA Football is nicely underway. I always considered this the best time....but after careful consideration over the last few years, I'm convinced.
We are about to embark on the best time of year in sports. Anyone else excited?

Bobby Hull gets hammered...and I don't mean drunk
In honour of Bobby Hull's possibly intoxicated photo shoot in Tuesday's Winnipeg Sun (wish there were links that I could find, but if you saw the front page of the Sun on Tuesday, and page 2 of the Sun Sports on Tuesday, you know what I mean) , here he is back in the 1970's with the WHA's Winnipeg Jets getting absolutely destroyed from behind by famous hockey goon, Steve Durbano. The attack happens at 1:30 of the video. This is one of my favorite hockey clips EVER.
Note: Listen to how silent the Winnipeg crowd goes. That's how much Bobby meant to that club, and the city, back in the 1970's.
Note #2: This video is worth watching fully because:
1. This shows how crazy hockey games were in the 1970's especially in the WHA. Stuff like this happened on a weekly basis.
2. Watching the Winnipeg fans freak out and throw stuff at the players is fun to watch. In fact, usually any athlete/crowd incident at sporting events are fun to watch as long as you're not the fan getting attacked.
There are so many other funny little things about this video, but I'll let you discover them for yourself.

Who should I learn to fly with?
3 great songs. 3 songs with the same name.
How in god's name weren't there any lawsuits?
Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, and the Foo Fighters have all had phenomenal music careers and each artist has a hit song called "Learning to Fly". Well technically, the Foo Fighters called their song "Learn to Fly" (why they cut the "ing" is a mystery)
You guys couldn't have thought of a somewhat different name for your song? Were you trying to one-up each other? Many questions unanswered.
I guess we'll give Pink Floyd the edge in this one since they were the first ones to come out with the song in 1987. Wait a minute, they weren't?
That's right. In 1985, Emerson,Lake, and Powell(What happened to Palmer?) released their "Learning to Fly" before anyone else did. So really if anyone should be upset, it should be these guys. But I guess stealing song titles are not as big as stealing guitar riffs or drum beats. I certainly would be pissed right off if I wrote a #1 hit and then someone else calls their song the name of my song and also hits #1 on the charts.
And then the shit hit the fan.
Posh Spice's 2001 autobiography: Learning to Fly (Ironically came out on 9/13/01, 2 days after 9/11)
Hilary Duff 2004 Music DVD: Learning to Fly
Wouldn't you want a more original name for your book or your DVD?
Was "Training to Soar" not available?
"Studying to aviate"?
"Getting the hang of becoming a pilot?" Now there's a song title.
Here are the 3 hit songs. Judge for yourself which one is better.
(My personal choice: Foo Fighters.
I've never really gotten into Pink Floyd's music post-Roger Waters even though I can be seen wearing a Division Bell t-shirt from time to time. The reason for this....everyone in high school had Dark Side of the Moon shirts. I had to change it up.
Meanwhile in Petty's version, the same chords are played over and over and over and over again (F,C,Am,G...F,C,Am,G). Great song but that repetitiveness makes me go with the Foo Fighters on this one.
Here are all 3 vids
Foo Fighters (1997)
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers (1991)
Pink Floyd (1987)
And just for the hell of it.. the original
Emerson,Lake & Powell (1986) (1:40-2:07....Holy Dinah!!)

Classic Commercials
I remember watching these classics when I was about 6 or 7 years old.
It's amazing that Sundin was the star of commercials even though he has won 0 Stanley Cups, 0 Mvp's, 0 important awards.
Another reason why I hate the Leafs.
